No. 362: Taz in France

No matter what country I was living in, I would love my little dog Taz. He’s my dog and he is always glad to see me. It is virtually impossible to be unhappy when he is around. He makes my days better and I would be crazy for him no matter where we were.
But what I love about having Taz in France is that he has a little bit more street cred than he has in the USA. He has rights.
Dogs in France, especially little dogs, are welcomed to participate in the public life of their “people”. Taz is welcomed in cafés and boutiques, hardware stores, wine bars, and some boulangeries. Although my neighborhood marché has a picture of a black dog with an “X” through it on the automatic glass doors, the cashiers still let me bring him in and tie him by their tills where they smile and fawn over him. While I shop, he happily sits and waits and watches Paris go by.
They say that every dog has his day. Well Taz has had quite a number of groovy days among the French. You might even say he’s become one cool cat.
Taz looks cute with his beret. 🙂
Very intellectual and aloof, don’t you think?
Oh yes, hehe.
what a cutie pie
He is a charmer.
My Frenchies are jealous of that hat! 🙂
They don’t have one yet? 🙂 Taz is usually a reluctant model (although he loves to wear sweaters). He usually draws the line at hats, but he was in a pensive mood the other day, as you can see.
Pauvre bête! He must already be missing la Belle France!
i think many dogs would be a little bit jealous of your little feller! what a life he has been having and how different will it be when you get him “back home”!
The poor little guy has got himself in a tither with all these suitcases and moving people. I am hoping he will be so exhausted, that he will sleep the entire plane ride…not likely to happen, but I can always hope.
Awwww missing my lil puppy!!
He misses you too. x
Thank you Nancy for making me discover Paris through your eyes. All the native parisians should read your blog to make them realize how rich in many ways this city is. It has this human size and spirit that makes it so special. Isn’t it terrific to be able to “velib” along the Seine river and cross the town in 1 hour, enjoying the view of amazing buildings! Thanks again and bon voyage! See you very soon
I am so glad you were one of my faithful readers Hélène (and friends, bien sûr). I loved hearing your French perspective and getting caught up in your enthusiasm and appreciation of this lovely city. I will miss my Vélib rides along the Seine almost as much as I will miss our morning walks. Bonne rentrée and bisous. x
Hey, Taz should have his own blog or Facebook page and tell it through his eyes. Your Paris friends will not only miss you in the flesh but we will miss your French blog. Please ask Taz to give us something, even once per week, from the other side of the Atlantic Ocean to show us his life in Colorado. Can he run free in the woods and chase rabbits? Can he curl up in front of a crackling log fire? A Facebook page would not need a lot of words – just a sentence or 2 and a photo; definitely less demanding on his time than a blog. And I’m sure with training Taz can learn to use your iPhone to take inspiring shots of the great outdoors?
Please don’t abandon us both physically and literarily……
Aww…such a nice comment and another AWESOME (had to use that American word for you) idea.
He could dress up in a camo outfit with a AK40 and go to a gun rally in my lovely state…or I could take him to a pot shop and pose him buying our legal marijuana…or how about a big Christian revival in one of the many mega churches…It will be odd to go “home”…
He’s adorable! We were once in a very chic restaurant in Lucerne in Switzerland and the people at the next door table had their dog sitting with them (under the table) – I love the way Europeans include their pets in this way! People would have a blue fit if you tried to do this in Australia. Love the beret too Taz models it so well 🙂
Thank you. It is quite a snazzy look for him, n’est pas? He usually is a very reluctant model, but not yesterday. I will miss being able to take him everywhere with me.
