No. 224: Under the Dome at Galeries Lafayette

I am only a bargain shopper and I really only buy things at the dernière démarque, and I have never bought anything at the Galeries Lafayette, accept a couple of macarons at the in-store Ladurée. But every now and again, when I’m in the neighborhood of the les grands magasins, I like to pop in, look up, and admire the glorious dome.
Vocabulaire
dernière démarque: final markdown
les grands magasins: big department stores

Love it!
Thanks for stopping by my blog and for commenting. There is so much beauty in the City of Light.
When I’m in Paris, I love lunching at the upper floor cafe with views of the dome ceiling – stunning!
I’ll have to have lunch up there sometime. I like to just pop in and out as the throngs of wealthy tourists get to me quickly. That said, the building is spectacular.
Throngs of tourists here in July and August get to me 🙂
It is a magnificent sight. I have read in several places that the stained glass in Notre Dame and Sainte-Chapelle was removed and replaced after WWI and WWII. I wonder if the same was done here or we were just lucky it escaped any damage?
